I get a lot of satisfaction doing these stories every week, interviewing the many music, artistic, and entrepreneurial folks who make Madison one of the best small towns in America. But I am truly over-the-moon excited about this week’s subject, both for its potential to enhance our quality of life and even further elevate our reputation as Indiqna’s Music City.
Starting next Saturday, March 22nd, the Masonic Building on Main Street (most recently home to Wow What A Find furnishings) will be opening as Timeless LIVE!, a brand new entertainment venue. And this is right on the heels of the new Vintage Lanes wine bar and duckpin bowling, which is opening this weekend. So many new and exciting things for residents and visitors to see and do in Madison these days!
Timeless LIVE! is the brainchild of Angie Stone of Harrison, Ohio and Daryl May, a native and resident of Madison. “We were sitting in Off Broadway Taproom enjoying their amazing food,” explains Angie, “and I looked across the street and saw the for sale signs in the windows. I made some inquiries and took a tour, which blew me away, and next thing you know, I’d bought it!”
“I’m a total music guy,” continues Daryl, “so as soon as she had the building and we started thinking about the best way to use it, right away I started thinking about a music performance venue. The energy and momentum in Madison around the music scene is kind of infectious, and we want to be a part of it.”
Angie picks up the narrative, “We’re offering something that we believe will be pretty special and unique in Madison. On the second floor, which is broken up into several large rooms, we will have a wide variety of recreation and fun. Dart boards, pool tables, some video games, a jukebox, a couple of TVs in a lounge area with the game on, and a bar, of course. There will be some simple food options, too. Everything on the second floor will be free and open to the public.
“But then on the third floor where the big historic high-ceilinged ball room is, we have a stage with live music performances. Those shows will be ticketed, and you can go right on up the stairs and enjoy the music. The entire two floors have a capacity of over 400 people, so it has the potential to be quite a lively and fun experience.”
“We’ll be pulling in bands from around the tri-state area,” explains Daryl, “plus many of the local favorites, like the Rumors and Jimmy Davis. It will be a total mix of genres, including rock, blues, pop and country.
“The goal is to create that Nashville feel, with so many things to do and something for everyone. We want to contribute to the nightlife here in Madison and really add to the overall experience that will attract new visitors and long-time residents alike.”
Tickets for the third floor music shows are available at MadTixEvents.com, or you can go to Timeless-Live.com. Advance ticket prices range from $5 to $15. The first Grand Opening show on March 22 is Radiotronic Band out of Louisville, but there are many more shows listed for the rest of March and into April. Let’s all get out and support this exciting new venture!
HOT TIP OF THE WEEK:
There’s a lot to be said for the familiar regulars who appear on our music calendar every week. Jimmy Davis, Jordan Wilson, Zach Hackney, Ruben Guthrie, Anthony Wright, Joe & Deano. If you love them (and I know you do!) you can go and have a guaranteed good time. But it’s also really fun to see some new names popping up, and the excitement that comes from discovering a “new” favorite artist. I see Milach Parks on Friday and Short Notice on Saturday, just to name a couple. I encourage you to go check out these first-timers, and see what they have to offer. But there is one known name that is a sure-thing lock on Saturday for a mind blowing musical experience. Michael Kelsey at Red Bicycle Hall performs with a kind of incendiary energy that is truly unique and spellbinding. I’ll be there, and I hope to see you too!
