Madison Music Movement and Madison Area Arts Alliance teamed up to join the Indiana Arts Commission and the Indiana Small Business Development Center for the entrepreneurship training session at the Red Bicycle Hall on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

“The Business of Music” was a free half-day workshop that gave musicians, venue owners, and music enthusiasts the opportunity to learn effective strategies for marketing music and venues, writing songs, expanding acts regionally, and selling their own talents.

We welcomed out-of-town featured speakers including grassroots music marketing consultant Isabelle Garson from Santa Rosa, CA; Dr. Michael Fortunato, a musician, professor, and community development consultant: and Aubrey Preston, a music expert, and developer from Leipers Fork, Tennessee. These special guests, alongside a team of seasoned music maker panelists, shared hands-on experience about the music business.
Invited panelists include: Grammy award winner Robert Reynolds; recording artist and homegrown rock and roller Rusty Bladen; Nashville recording songwriter/musician Jimmy Davis, Snaps for Sinners dynamic duo, Jay Drapes, and Michael Fierro.
